CAE Career Ready Internship Program and Professional Development:

As a Center, we aim to elevate and support students through providing enriching services. Specifically, we offer an internship program and a variety of professional development opportunities that contribute to a well-rounded Wisconsin Experience.

Our CAE Career Ready Internship Program, funded by a grant from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation, provides paid internship opportunities to students who have unmet financial need, with an emphasis on underserved populations. Additionally, this program uses the High Impact Practice of internships to aid in increasing students’ retention and graduation rates.  Students have been placed in a variety of for-profit and nonprofit placements to support their short- and long-term career goals.

Moreover, we provide many of professional development opportunities including the Empowering You Conference, Multicultural Career Fair, and the Alternative Break. The Empowering You Career and Internship Conference, co-facilitated by CAE and the Center for educational Opportunity (CeO), gives students a jump start in clarifying their academic goals and connecting their academic work with post-graduation careers and opportunities. The Multicultural Career Fair offers students the wonderful opportunity to connect with over thirty local and regional employers who are interested in working with diverse students looking for internship and full-time positions. The Alternative Break affords students with opportunities to participate in civic engagement volunteer trips to culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged communities throughout the United States.
