High-Impact Practices (HIPs) are one of the engagement requirements for Lawton Grant recipients
A student’s experience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is informed by the Wisconsin Experience, which is grounded in the 100-year old tradition of the Wisconsin Idea, where “the boundaries of the university are the boundaries of the state.” In addition to the essential learning outcomes defining academic excellence, the Wisconsin Experience is enhanced by high-impact practices (HIPs), which are broadly understood as highly engaged learning opportunities.
