About the Summer Collegiate Experience

The Summer Collegiate Experience provides a high-impact, intensive, first-year experience for a select number of entering UW-Madison students. SCE scholars must first be nominated to apply through a review process that is coordinated by the Office of Admissions and the College of Letters & Science.  Those who are selected to be SCE scholars are awarded a full scholarship to attend a seven-week residential academic program in the summer prior to freshman year. Students benefit from small classes and specialized academic support while settling into campus and building close friendships with a diverse group of scholars. Students get a head start on earning UW credits for graduation and learn the skills needed to succeed at UW-Madison.

SCE provides the entry point for students to the Center for Academic Excellence, where students connect with advising, peer mentorship, workshops and career development.
