The Letters & Science (L&S) STEM Scholars Program is a transformation initiative designed, to support students from backgrounds underrepresented in science to pursue L&S STEM majors. It supports students through every stage of their academic journey—from the moment they arrive at UW-Madison, to identifying and selecting an L&S STEM major, to connecting with mentors and research opportunities in preparation for their post-graduation success.
Housed within the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE), the L&S STEM Scholars Program helps students actively engage with UW-Madison’s vibrant community of scholars and connects them with STEM-oriented experiences such as the Undergraduate Research Scholars (URS) program, with L&S STEM departments, and with STEM-affiliated student success and learning services across campus.
The program focuses on building community and fostering close mentor and peer relationships. The Program community. empowers students to thrive in their STEM journey and beyond.
