Karen is thrilled to be the L&S Center for Academic Excellence’s Director and Assistant Dean. She served as Director of Student Success and Pre-College Programs in the Wisconsin School of Business. Prior to that, she was Director of College Counseling at Georgetown Day School, the first racially integrated school in Washington, D.C. Karen also previously served as Dean of Admission at the George Washington University, and in various admissions leadership roles at University of Maryland, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, and Syracuse University.
Active throughout the higher education profession, Karen has served on the governing board of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC); as a member of the Board of Advisors of the George Washington University Online High School; on the faculty of the Summer Institute of the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admission Counseling (PCACAC); on the Middle States Regional Council of the College Board; and as a reviewer for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. Karen is a graduate of Goucher College (Maryland) and Syracuse University (New York) and an alum of the Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, listening to music, traveling with her handsome husband, and taking walks (when it’s not too cold!) with her petite mini goldendoodle, Neville.
