A Pre-Professional Pipeline for scholars who “aspire higher”
The Academy is an initiative in the College of Letters and Science (L&S) Center for Academic Excellence. It is for L&S students interested in aspiring higher by continuing their education on a pre-professional, pre-graduate pathway. This initiative strives to strengthen diversity in graduate, law, and health professions by creating pathways for students of low-income or traditionally underrepresented backgrounds who have an interest in those careers. The Academy provides a hub designed to help students identify and maximize advising, tutoring, mentoring, and career-planning resources. In addition to resources for academic success, Academy students will find many opportunities for research, leadership, and community engagement.
The Academy welcomes applications from students of traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, first-generation college students, and students in the College of Letters and Science who are interested in the pre-graduate, pre-law, or pre-health career path.
Academy requirements include:
- 1 meeting with the Academy Program Coordinator per semester,
- Regular attendance of Academy events and cohort meetings, and
Completion of an academic and career portfolio during your senior year.
