Hernan is a proud CAE alumnus and first-generation college graduate whose experience in the program sparked his passion for higher education. As an undergraduate, he held roles with the Office of the Governor, the Office of Student Financial Aid, and the Department of Educational Policy Studies, and contributed to research with the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. He also served as a CAE Peer Mentor, supporting first-year students through mentoring and academic programming. Upon graduation, he joined the CAE professional staff as an academic advisor with the motivation to give back and support students through their college journey. Through his role, Hernan holistically supports students and leads the center’s peer mentoring program.
Grounded in trust-building and student empowerment, Hernan’s approach to advising centers on helping students navigate campus with confidence and intention. He is passionate about creating affirming spaces where students feel seen, supported, and equipped to make the most of their college experience. Hernan enjoys traveling, visiting museums, and spending time with loved ones.
